Te Kauwhata College prides itself on being able to offer its students a wide variety of sporting codes. We work together with the community to support and encourage our students to participate in the various codes we have to offer.

Throughout the year we hold interschool competitions with other schools from the Thames Valley region and these schools offer the same rural family connection like we do.

The start of the school year is extremely busy with students involved in many summer sports. Students also compete in our annual School Swimming and Athletics competitions and some are selected to compete in the Thames Valley and Waikato Secondary Schools competitions.

Towards the end of the first term our winter codes start and our practise fields are a buzz with action. We offer fitness training three nights a week, with hockey, rugby and netball players all working together to get fit for their sport.

Students are also involved in volleyball, badminton, squash, basketball, touch, soccer, cross country, equestrian, rowing, weightlifting and clay target shooting, rugby sevens, triathlons, cycling and out door pursuits.

We hold an annual Sports Exchange for our junior and our senior school, involving many students in a variety of sports codes. Students look forward to these exchanges as it is a day that is enjoyed by all.

Every second year we billet overseas travelling teams for two nights. We have developed a good reputation with the organisers of these events and always have positive feedback from visiting schools.

We encourage sportsmanship on and off the field. Students are proud to be members of our sporting teams and wear their uniforms with pride.

Information on individual sports codes are available via the links on this page.
