We believe that people are what life is about. Life is lived in a community and we are designed to live life interdependently, not independently. Our school community is a place where learning to be a team member takes place. The staff, Board and parents work co-operatively as a team to provide the best possible learning environment to promote achievement.
Our school is one of the main places where children develop their views about life. Young minds are shaped for the future. It’s also a place where hundreds of lives intersect on a daily basis. For these reasons, we believe our school is a place where respect – for self, for others and for the world around us – is a fundamental value to be acknowledged, encouraged and celebrated.
We also recognise that Maori values are important in a community such as ours and individual and cultural identity is valued. People are of the greatest importance as recognised in our emphasis on teamwork.
He aha te mea nui? What is the most important thing?
He tangata! It is people!
He tangata! It is people!
He tangata! It is people!
Integrity or honesty is a broadly acknowledged societal value and we believe the school has a vital role to play in expressing this in all its dealings.
